At Holy Spirit Primary School Thornbury East, the School Advisory Council (SAC) plays an important role in supporting the life and direction of the school community. Guided by the policies and governance structures of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), the School Advisory Council works in partnership with the Principal to support the strategic vision and ongoing development of the school.
The School Advisory Council is a consultative and advisory body that contributes to the strengthening of Catholic identity, educational excellence and community engagement within the school.
Role of the School Advisory Council
- Supporting the Principal: Providing advice and support to the Principal in matters relating to school improvement, strategic direction and community engagement
- Strengthening Catholic Identity: Supporting and promoting the Catholic ethos, mission and values of the school community
- Contributing to Strategic Planning: Assisting with future planning and school priorities aligned with the MACS 2030 vision and school improvement goals
- Promoting Community Connection: Strengthening partnerships between families, staff, parish and the wider school community
- Providing Parent and Community Voice: Offering perspectives and feedback that support the needs and aspirations of the school community
- Supporting School Improvement: Contributing to discussions relating to student wellbeing, learning, enrolments, facilities and community engagement initiatives
- Supporting Child Safety and Wellbeing: Promoting a child-safe culture and supporting policies and practices that ensure safe, inclusive and respectful learning environments
- Encouraging Collaboration and Communication: Fostering open communication and shared responsibility within the school community
Through partnership, leadership and shared commitment, the School Advisory Council helps ensure Holy Spirit continues to be a welcoming, faith-filled and future-focused learning community where every child is supported to flourish.
