At Holy Spirit Primary School Thornbury East, Italian is taught as part of our Languages program, providing students with opportunities to develop communication skills, cultural understanding and global awareness. Learning a language encourages curiosity, confidence and respect for diversity while helping students connect with the rich traditions and cultures of the Italian-speaking world.
Students develop their skills in:
- Speaking and Listening: Building confidence using everyday Italian words, phrases and conversations
- Reading and Viewing: Exploring simple texts, stories, songs and visual materials in Italian
- Writing: Using vocabulary and sentence structures to communicate ideas and information
- Cultural Understanding: Learning about Italian traditions, celebrations, food, geography and ways of life
- Songs, Games and Interactive Learning: Engaging in fun and meaningful activities that strengthen language development and participation
- Communication and Connection: Developing appreciation for different cultures and perspectives through language learning
Our Italian program encourages students to become confident communicators who are open-minded, respectful and curious about the wider world. Through engaging lessons and cultural experiences, students develop not only language skills, but also an understanding of the importance of diversity and intercultural learning.
