At Holy Spirit Primary School Thornbury East, the Performing Arts program provides students with meaningful opportunities to express themselves creatively, build confidence and develop a love of music, drama and performance. Through engaging and collaborative experiences, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop their talents and share their learning with others.
Students participate in a variety of experiences across music, movement, drama and performance, including:
- Drama and Role Play: Developing confidence, creativity, communication and storytelling skills
- Music and Singing: Exploring rhythm, pitch, beat, melody and vocal performance
- Movement and Dance: Using movement to express ideas, emotions and creativity
- Performance Skills: Building stage confidence, collaboration and presentation skills through shared performances
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Working together respectfully and creatively to prepare and perform as part of a group
- Creative Expression: Encouraging students to explore ideas, emotions and imagination through the arts
The Performing Arts program also provides students with opportunities to participate in:
- School liturgies and community celebrations
- Classroom and whole-school performances
- Music and drama activities integrated across learning areas
- Special events and celebrations throughout the year
Whole-School Performance
Every second year, students participate in a whole-school performance production. This highly anticipated event provides students with the opportunity to showcase their talents, build confidence, work collaboratively and celebrate creativity as a community. Students contribute through acting, singing, dancing and performance preparation, creating memorable experiences for students, staff and families alike.
