MACS – Vision of Instruction

At Holy Spirit Primary School, our teaching and learning approach is guided by the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Vision for Instruction. This vision supports high-quality teaching practices that help every student grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Our approach focuses on creating engaging, inclusive and evidence-informed learning experiences where all students are supported to achieve success.

What This Looks Like at Holy Spirit

Explicit Teaching

Teachers use clear, structured and intentional teaching practices to support student learning. Learning is carefully modelled and explained step-by-step, with opportunities for guided practice, feedback and application of new skills and knowledge.

Full Participation

We are committed to ensuring every student feels connected and actively involved in all aspects of school life. Through supportive classroom practices, students are all encouraged to participate with varied opportunities to respond, such as written responses, gestures, pair shares and choralling.

Evidence-Informed Practice

Teachers use assessment, student data and ongoing observations to monitor progress and inform teaching. This ensures learning experiences are responsive, targeted and designed to support each student’s individual growth and achievement.

Inclusive Learning Environments

Holy Spirit recognises the importance of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) approach to learning and wellbeing. Adjustments, targeted interventions and differentiated supports are provided to ensure all students can access learning at the level and intensity suited to their individual needs.
