At Holy Spirit Primary School, we are committed to ensuring every child experiences a positive, confident and successful transition into school life. Our transition program is designed to support children and families as they become familiar with the school environment, routines, staff and community.
Step Into Prep – School Readiness Program
Our Step Into Prep program provides children with opportunities to:
- become familiar with the school setting
- engage in play-based learning experiences
- build confidence and independence
- develop early social and classroom routines
- connect with future classmates and teachers.
The program is designed to support school readiness while helping children feel excited and comfortable about starting Prep. This is open to all students in our community, not just those that have enrolled.
Orientation Sessions
Children and families are invited to participate in a series of orientation sessions at the end of the year. These sessions allow students to:
- meet their Prep teachers
- explore classroom learning spaces
- build connections with peers and staff in a supportive environment.
Prep Information Night
Families are invited to attend a Prep Information Night, where parents and carers receive important information about:
- the transition to school
- daily routines and expectations
- learning programs
- wellbeing supports
- communication processes
- ways families can support children at home.
This evening provides an opportunity to ask questions and begin building strong partnerships between home and school.
Buddy Program
Our Prep students are supported through a dedicated Buddy Program, where older students help welcome and guide new students during their first year of school. The program helps children to:
- feel safe and connected
- develop friendships across year levels
- build confidence within the school community
- experience a strong sense of belonging.
We value the importance of a smooth and supportive transition and look forward to partnering with families as children begin their journey at Holy Spirit Primary School.
